Why are our teas different?

All of our teas are single-source, pure, black teas from estates in India, China, and Ceylon. Specially selected for their smooth flavors, distinctive colors, and their rich undertones, our black teas are completely free of flavorings. (Recent studies have shown that many “natural” flavorings are far from natural, and often these added ingredients are sprayed on during the packaging process. Yuk!) Forget teas that evoke calming yoga or Mrs. Beasley’s fussy tea room. The Foreign Office teas are serious teas with modern style, robust flavor, and full caffeine.

Lower grade bagged teas are often the cheaper dust left over from the manufacturing process, which is why it tastes bitter. Whole leaf tea tastes better but can be a hassle. We found a perfect solution. The Foreign Office teas are high-quality whole-leaf teas imported in their pristine state, and then crushed just enough to make the use of a tea sachet possible. The result is superior taste and smoothness with the ease of a tea sachet. Voila!
